Reasons to read Twilight/ become a Twihard:
1. It is an extremely well written series, with a captivating plot and interesting twists. Once you start reading , you can honestly not put the books down!( Believe me, I tried… its impossible) This amazing saga has the ability to make you laugh, cry , amuse and provoke your thoughts. And if you are wondering - no- Stephenie Meyer did not forge her degree in English from the internet.
2.It has iconic characters you will love and remember forever. E.g. if a Twihard sees a girl in a yellow car, of course they are going to think of Alice Cullen! And if they spot a pale guy with bronze hair that gorgeously sticks up, obviously they'll be reminded of Edward’s stunning entry in the first movie. Should they catch a glimpse of a tanned, muscled guy with a happy-go-lucky attitude, they’ll smile as their thoughts wander to the Jacob we all know and love. And need I say… if they know of a girl with no personality/social life, and yet has the ability to get the best guys… do I even need to mention her name?
3.It is an extremely versitile series, with both males and females of all ages reading it. It also a mix of all types of genre, from horror to romance, supernatural to fantasy, with something all types of readers will enjoy.
4.Nowadays, most of the types of books that pre teens and teens read/ the movies they watch have a large portion to do with dating. All the usual stereotypical jocks running after cheerleaders in ridiculously short skirts, girls going boy crazy , and trying to attract them using makeup, flirty behaviour or inappropriate clothes, etc. Twilight, however, steps out of that stereotype and gives out good messages, such as you can still wear full sleeved clothes and jeans while being in love with the most perfect guy EVER. Also, many of the programs running on tv today display children at the age of 8 worrying over whether their crush likes them back- FYI, stupid. But Twilight has mature young adults at the age of eighteen falling in love. Not just a strong liking for each other involving frivolous acts of dating. No - I’m talking about real, powerful, soul-mate-starcrossed-lovers-type of love.
5.Last but definitely not the least, the Twilight fandom is loving, passionate and welcomes new members with open arms. You'll never be alone if you're a twihard because we aren't just a fandom… we’re a family :) If you're part of the fandom, you can always communicate with other fans on various different social medias, learn more about this phenomenal series, and make great friends along the way.
Wow! If you've put up with me ranting on about Twilight; thank you! Not many people have the tolerance level to do so. Now that I've attempted to narrow down all my thoughts on Twilight into five points, and tried to convince you to read this amazing series, I shall leave it up to you to make the final decision on whether to do so or not.
Thanks again for reading my blog post, it really means a lot.
Ps. I suggest that if you've put up with me for this long, you might as well read the books, or else all that effort would have gone to waste. Give the series a chance; I promise you won't regret it :)
