Last week saw another manic library event - this terms Lunchtime Lit Quiz. 30 teams from 18 classes competed for the right to brag about being the best read and most knowledgeable class in the school. Room 4(A) narrowly edged out a large contingent of teachers, who themselves just beat Room 18 (A). And we raised $180 for the World Vision Book Bank Fundraiser that Miss O'Malley will be passing on on her trip to Rwanda in the near future. Well done everyone, especially all those students game enough to answer the bonus questions by being T. Rex's, squirrels and swimming salmon. I laughed a lot!
Yet another successful lunchtime spent with a library full of students and teachers answering such questions as "Captain Underpants is the alter-ego of which character in the Captain Underpants series? " or "What colour shirt does the highest ranked Cherub agent wear?" in between much noise, eating of sweets and organised mayhem. Well done to all the classes and teachers competing (results here) - I am always greatly impressed by how much you all know and how much you read. Very cool.
The quiz ended with a dead heat between Room 1 and Room 2, with Room 2 (go Miss Herbert) winning the tie-breaker in the final minute to take the prize. Thanks to Mr Ataera for filling in so well as quizmaster.
We raised $150 for buying books for the City Mission to give to kids and families in need this Christmas. (More about that soon).
If you want the answers to the above questions - Principal Benny Krupp is Captain Underpants and the top Cherub agents wear black. But I bet you knew that.
Fridays Lunchtime Lit Quiz was another roaring (yes, there was a lot of noise) success. Well done Room 20 for beating the teachers team by a whopping 1 point! The teachers and Room 9A came a close second, with the trainee teachers team not far behind them. Congratulations to all of you who took part and made the quiz such a fun time. Thanks to our quiz master extraordinaire Mr Tilley for making so many people do so much funny stuff. We raised nearly $140 for the Wellington Free Ambulance - good stuff guys. Great photos by Mr Le Roy de Sainte Rene.
This is what last term's Lunchtime Lit Quiz looked like - sitting room only.
Make sure you're ready for this term's Quiz Friday 6 September - see the notice below. It's time the teacher's were beaten guys!
Another successful Lunchtime Lit Quiz in the library on Friday. Answers and sweets flying around the room and 13 teams within 2 points of each other. Obviously you are guys are getting really good at this!
So Room's 14, 17, 19, 21B and 21C all came in with top equal marks, very closely followed by Room's 10 and 6, and also very closely followed by Room 18C and the Teachers.
In the end, the sudden death tie breaker was won by ........
Well done everyone for helping and taking part and thank you Quiz Master Mr Tilley for doing such a great job. More than $100 and 3 boxes of cans for the Johnsonville Food Bank again. They are very grateful.
Congratulations to everyone who took part in Friday's Lunchtime Lit Quiz - you were amazing! 27 teams (that's a record) fought it out to find the most avid readers. You were all experts on The Hunger Games and knew your cartoon characters but it came down to a tie-breaker between Room 3 and the Kids' Lit Quiz school team 2, won by KLQ team 2. All results are up in the library, check out how your class went.
Thank you Mr Tilley for being our quizmaster and thanks to all the student leaders and other students who helped to make sure everything ran smoothly. We raised $144.50 and 5 boxes of cans for the local Food Bank. Well done!
