At Rāroa, Pride Week serves as a powerful reminder of the ongoing journey towards equality, acceptance, and the promotion of human rights for all individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
By supporting Pride Week, we highlight the importance of creating an inclusive society where everyone can live authentically and without fear of discrimination or prejudice.
It is important for all individuals at Rāroa to know that their identities are celebrated, valued, and respected.
Through Pride Week events and activities, we help amplify the voices of marginalised and raise awareness of the challenges they face. It is a chance to stand against discrimination, homophobia, transphobia, and the systemic barriers that hinder LGBTQ+ individuals from fully participating in society.
Pride week activities are organised and run by students. They are optional and take place at break times. Teachers may make reference to Pride week and answer any questions students have. The student group present at assembly and promote their activities.
